Falling Creek Middle School Reviews

My son was a student at Falling Creek 2 years ago. I jumped at the opportunity to move him out of there based on all of the things we had been through. He went from barely passing to honor roll in just a year. This speaks volumes to me about the staff and administration. I had to force the administration and teachers to involve me. Tell me, how does a child bring home a report card with all failing grades and the parent receive no prior communication. This was especially concerning to me because my son and I were hurricane evacuees from the Gulf Coast and at the time that I enrolled my son in Falling Creek I asked the guideance counselor to keep a check on my son to make sure that he was transitioning ok, being that we had just been through such a tramatic experience.

Falling Creek Middle is not a good school. I am a parent of a student who is constantly bullied. My child is very intellectual & the students pick on her because she wants to learn. The kids disrupt classes & the teachers & staff have no control over the students. I have to move because I want my child to have a better education which she cannot get at FCMS. The school needs a whole new staff & Discipline put in place. I would not recommend this school at all.

I'm currently a student at FCMS and i think this school is terrific. There is such a warm and inviting atmosphere at Falling Creek Middle. The teachers are awesome...they challenge everyone according to each person.

I like falling creek middle school,i don't believe it's the principal, teachers or counselors.I believe children and adults learn different ways. But I think we need to go back to some of the old ways,to give the children a chance to have the oppournity to pick up a book and read and learn.I know when I was in school,if I wasn't able to bring all of my books home, even on the weekend,I would of been lost. Also, alot of it is parnets just don't have the time to encourage and help their children or don't want to.

There is very little support from administration they do not seem to know what is going on in the school. Parent involvement isnot encouraged or accepted. The school administrators act as bullies themselves. The overall atmosphers of this school is not good. The teachers are not involved with the students. There seems to be a total disconnect between the students and teachers, administrators. i honestly cannot recommend this school to anyone, and am very happy that I have removed my children from this hostile atmosphers.

This school has a lot of great teachers who give a great deal of extra time in the mornings and afternoons working with students. A variety of activities are provided as well as activity buses 3 days a week to provide transportation for students who wouldn't otherwise be able to stay. Not many schools in the county do this. Falling Creek also has a lot of discipline issues and the students need to be held accountable for their actions. This doesn't always happen, however, has improved over the last year. We need more parent involvement and have a lot of opportunities for parents to be involved not only with after school activities but during school as well. Some opportunities for parents, teachers and administrators to work together are the back to school grade level orientations, Fall Cookout, Game Night, Health Fair, and the Parent Institute, all provided by Title 1.

The biggest problems here are the administration, lack of discipline and safety issues directly related to the lack of enforcement of school rules by the administration. Discipline appears unfair with victims being punished in the same manner as the perpetrators of violence. There is very little parental involvement within the school and administration does not seem willing to support parental involvment within the school setting. Teachers appear to be doing a good job considering the problems associated with the administration. In summary, this school could be a much better school if administration would work together with, instead of against, parents, students and teachers.
