I am a happy person with a high self esteem that likes to laugh and talk. I love my family and they are very important to me. I cook and make jewelry. I like to take time to get to know people. I love to dance, sing, fine dine, take long walks along the beach, sit by the camp fire, fishing, going to a movie or theater. I love reading a good book of any kind, the internet, and to cuddle up to a fireplace with a glass of wine. I blame friends.

I'm never good at these. Overall, I think I'm a pretty good guy, but who wouldn't say that in a self-summary? The best I have to go on really is what friends have said about me. I'm told that I'm thoughtful and sympathetic, and a good friend. I'm funny, endearing, and a good listener. This is all hearsay, however. (Haha.)

I like rain, snow, and precipitation in general. I'm less of a fan of getting rained ON, but I love to watch it. I'm also kind of a history buff and I've been known to go out of my way to see historic places in person.

I love to write. I'm not nearly as prolific as I'd like, but I've an enthusiasm about the written word that shan't be trifled with. I also have the great habit of losing the ability to remember any word at all when I'm trying to speak to someone. Very often a sentence will be something similar to, "Yeah, the, uh, thing, over by the, um, thing..." and so on. Embarrassing, but somewhat endearing.

I have lived a lot in this life. The ups and downs, twists and turns have resulted in moments of intense exhilaration, and those of profound stress. Right now I'm oscillating gently somewhere around the middle...

Still searching for my groove. I'm thinking I my be just about be there - gainfully self-unemployed, yet on the verge of unlimited possibilities. I've been an entrepreneur in the past, loved and hated it. The rewards are all your own, as are the disappointments. So I take the next steps lightly and carefully.

I've been many things in the past. The list includes (not necessarily in precise chronological order): Bicycle mechanic, archival document processor, landscape contractor, package designer, graphic designer, prepress consultant, digital assets manager, interactive engineer, project manager, bouncer, prep cook, line cook, bartender, computer salesman, reprographic manager, retail sales slave and now finally... entrepreneur.

My formal education is in Communication Arts and Design from Virginia Commonwealth University. A career path that I now regret because it seems that graphic designers are put to pasture at the same rate as NFL linebackers by a market that is always shopping for "fresh" ideas.

The job I loved the most, and hated having to walk away from was as a Bouncer and Master of Ceremonies at a blues venue. at its peak, it was a very fulfilling vocation. Not that "Bouncer" should connote that I am a violent sort. Far from it. I just excelled at commanding respect in an exceedingly chaotic environment. It was more about making the patrons feel safe than anything else. My signature line at the door was, "There is a $5 cover charge for gentlemen, the lady is my guest." (A result of figuring out early on that if the women feel safe and watched over, they will come) The men soon follow.

The job I most loathed, and recently walked away from, was as a sales associate at a retail chain. I took it, hoping to make the best of it after a long, excruciating stint of unemployment. Big mistake. Worst job ever. But feeling trapped by circumstances, I stuck with it for almost four years - working harder and harder while watching my paycheck shrink. Bad management, immoral coworkers and rude customers were eroding my soul. One day the humiliation threshold was exceeded and I walked.

But as one door closes (or is slammed shut!), another opens. The time to enjoy life and my new freedom alloted me lead to new acquaintances and avenues of self-discovery.

As I feel myself returning to my center, and beginning to enjoy life again, I have started to re-consider my virtues as a companion, friend and lover. My confidence is back. That is why I am here.

Hmmm where to start with a self summary about myself... I'm pretty much an open book and don't hold anything back. I'm very talkative and can hold a conversation, but I know when to be silent.

I love writing poetry and short stories for fun. I take photos, scrapbook, do homemade cards, and artist trading cards. I also try other crafts that spark my interest.

I also love to read, but I'm somewhat picky about what I do read. I love reading anything by Edgar Allan Poe. Catcher in the Rye was one of the great books I've read. I tend to read books written by local authors or a book that teaches me something new (they all do in some way right?).

My camera is attached at my hip sometimes. I love taking pictures of nature, friends, family, and capturing those funny moments. I volunteer a lot and love working with young children. I love helping others. I plan on being a daycare teacher soon. I figure what better than a career that I know I'll enjoy waking up everyday to do.

I am 45 years old, with brown hair and hazel eyes, if I had to describe my frame I'd say I'm average to stocky. My height is 5 ft 6 in and I weigh in the 200 pd area. Myself.... Well I am a very interesting person, I have emotions that you wouldn't expect coming from someone like me. Ok...... So im in reno now, been here this time around for a few months. Its a pretty great town if you dont let it eat you up. I can only be here for so long though, then it starts to get to me for some reason. Its kinda weird though, i was born here and keep coming back. So i just joined the United States Armed Forces as a basic soldier in the ARMY. Im pretty excited about it. I leave july 26 from reno and wont be back for at least 6 months from then. For right now i am just working on my physical and trying to find people to hang out with till then. Just got out of a really bad 3 1/2 year relationship that went bad. Try not to let it get to me though. Everything happens for a reason. I do like to do all kinds of things though, mostly im an outdoors person though, but i do love sitting around watching any movie i can get my hands on.

most likely i will tell you what i want to tell you and what you dont want to hear. im VERY sarcastic and VERY honest. i dont beat around the bush.

I am an independent father of two wonderful daughters who are grown, on their own, but we are very close and visit on holidays whenever possible. I am retrement age, but like my job and plan to contunue working a few more years if the economy allows. I have been away from socialising with a partner for too long.
The things I like to do include: hikng, biking, yoga, exercising, the theater, live music, movies, plays, dinner and travel. I was an army brat, so moving often is in my past, but it is nice to have a home base. My daughter recently gave me a book titled "1000 places you musy see before you die", and I regard it as a challange to check off more of the places listed, than I have so far, and I already have quite a few.
I have been blessed with pretty good health, and I want to share the future with someone special in addition to my family. I am a newspaper addict and the two favorite books I have read are Jane Austin's "Pride and Prejudice" and Thomas Wolfe's "Look Homeward Angel"
I must also confess that I am a sports fan. I love the Redskins, college football in general, watching baseball games in person (Primarily a Reds fan, but I have had to become also a Red Sox fan because of my son-in-law), tennis, college basketball (an ACC fan) and golf, but only the majors.
