Berkeley Plantation is the site of the First Thanksgiving on Dec.4, 1619. Therefore, this plantation celebrates this by having a First Thanksgiving Festival on the 1st Sun. in Nov. each year. There is no charge to get on the grounds for this. Only a nominal parking fee.
A very nice program is presented with a reenactment of the of landing of the people from. Also included is a very interesting progam on the Pilgrims and the Chickahominy Indians. Berkeley Plantation is also the place where the Taps was written. A neat place to visit.

Berkeley Plantation is the birth place of William Henry Harrison, the ninth president of the united states. If is also where the first official Thanksgiving was observed on December 4, 1619. The grounds are beautiful. You can also see a cannon ball lodged in one of the buildings from a battle during the Civil War.

As an avid lover of civil war era history, touring this plantation was an awesome experience for me. I was lucky enough to pick a day where they were having a wedding re-enactment from the period as well as a civil war camp tour. The staff was very friendly and the gift shop was really nice. The tour was about 6.00 and the grounds are beautiful. Well worth the money and time spent!!!
